The landmark on Garam Sadak
Hotel Monal is a family-run hotel on Garam Sadak, The Mall, in Dalhousie, named after the monal, the Himalayan pheasant that is Himachal's state bird. Ask anyone near Subhash Chowk for "Monal" and they'll point you our way.
Guests come back for the views: the sun rising over the valley at breakfast, the hills from the balconies, and a quiet walk to the cafés and churches of Gandhi Chowk. We're the same family behind Dalhousie Adventure and Devdar BnB, just along Garam Sadak, so bikes, taxis and sightseeing are easy to arrange.

How to reach Hotel Monal
Google Maps is not reliable in the hills, and many guests get lost on the last stretch. Follow these directions instead.
- Come to Dalhousie Bus Stand.
- From the Bus Stand, go up to Subhash Chowk.
- At Subhash Chowk, take Garam Sadak. Come in and go out this way, by Subhash Chowk.
- Do not take Thandi Sadak to reach us, even if Google Maps suggests it, and don't try to come in from the Gandhi Chowk side.
- Hotel Monal is on Garam Sadak. Ask anyone for Monal: everyone on this road knows us.
Good to know: the hotel is about 30 steps down from the road, and there is no parking at the door. Message us before you arrive and we'll tell you where to park.

How do I find Hotel Monal? Google Maps took me the wrong way.
Google Maps isn't reliable in the hills. Come to Dalhousie Bus Stand, go up to Subhash Chowk and take Garam Sadak. Always come in and go out by Subhash Chowk, not from the Gandhi Chowk side, and don't take Thandi Sadak to reach us. Hotel Monal is on Garam Sadak: ask anyone for Monal, or call us and we'll guide you in.
Is there parking? Are there steps?
There is no parking at the hotel, and it is about 30 steps down from the road. Message us before you arrive and we'll tell you where to park. If anyone in your group finds steps difficult, tell us when you book.
What food do you serve?
Our kitchen is pure vegetarian, serving North Indian home-style food. Jain meals without onion and garlic are made on request. Breakfast is served and dinner .
